Mildred Jeanette Burrell Gibbs, a woman whose heart was as generous as the flower beds she lovingly tended, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. Born on May 31, 1936, in Macon County, North Carolina, Mildred's life was a rich tapestry woven with devotion to family, faith, and a passion for creating beauty in both her home and community.

Upon moving to North Carolina in the early 1970's, Mildred was a faithful member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, where she nurtured her spiritual foundation. Later, after moving back from Georgia, she found joy and deep fellowship at Shallowford Christian Church in Elon, North Carolina where she has made a multitude of friends. It was within these sacred halls that she shared her warmth and kindness, touching many lives with her sincerity and grace.

Mildred was a woman who loved her family especially her daughter, Gwynne Warren and her husband Robert. Her pride and joy extended to her grandchildren—Jeremy Warren and his wife Dawn, Joshua Warren and his wife Morgan. She adored her great grandchildren which included Katie, Zachary, Kennedy, Reid, Zoey and Zealyn. She was also blessed with five great great-grandchildren, a testament to the enduring legacy she leaves behind. She shared a special bond with her sister Adilene Davis, with whom she lived, and was cherished by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry fond memories of her gentle spirit.

An excellent seamstress, Mildred delighted in the art of crocheting and knitting, skills that spoke to her creativity and patience. Her home was adorned with the fruits of her craft, each stitch a symbol of her love and dedication. Alongside these talents, she found solace and joy working in her beautiful flower beds, nurturing life and color with the same tenderness she gave her family.

Mildred's journey was enriched by the partnership she once shared with her late husband, Robert Burns Gibbs. She also carries the memories of her parents, Hershel Lee Burrell and Addie Lorena Welch Burrell, as well as her five brothers and three sisters, who predeceased her but remain forever in her heart.A visitation in honor of Mildred will be held on March 21, 2026, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at Shallowford Christian Church, located at 1263 Shallowford Church Road, Elon, NC. Following this, a memorial service will continue at 11:45 a.m., allowing family and friends to come together in remembrance of a remarkable life that touched so many.
