Mitchel "Mitch" Grant Brown, 63, passed away on February 10, 2026 having survived cancer for many years and succumbing to its lingering effects in a faithful battle into the safety of the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Mitch was born on July 17, 1962, in Guilford County NC to the late Bobby Lee Brown and Wanda Summers Brown, who survives.
Mitch was a man of simple pleasures who found happiness through living in the moment, creativity, people, and adventure. Full of life and spirit, his younger years were filled with moments that would make some gasp in worry and others jealous of those experiences. He was a loyal friend, remaining close to those who needed him the most. He was a member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church in Gibsonville, NC, where, as a young man, he sang in the Crusaders for Christ choir and served on the committee of the Board of Christian Education.
A gifted craftsman and hobbyist, Mitch found satisfaction in building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He enjoyed all sports, particularly golf. He also had an eclectic taste in music and began playing the banjo at 26. A graduate of Northeast High School in McLeansville, NC, he last worked as an office manager for The Agency Inc., a staffing service in Greensboro, NC, where his cordial demeanor earned respect and friendship from both staff and clients. The memory of Mitch is survived not only through the stories we will continue to share but also through the love of family, friends, community, church, and especially the Sunday School classes.
Mitch was a loving and caring son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Summers Brown; sisters Rhonda Brown Coble and husband Jim of Greensboro, and Teresa Dowd and husband Nick of SC; brother Jeff Brown; brother Terry Brown and wife Julia of Greensboro; nieces Elizabeth Brown of MA, Lydia Brown of GA, and Candice Vaquero of FL; nephews Nicolas Carreola of Mérida Yucatán, Mexico, and Jonathan Brown of MA; great-nephew Zaiel Avelar of FL; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mitch was preceded in death by his dad, Bobby Lee Brown; grandparents Rupert and Pauline Brown and Peter L. and Annie M. Payne Summers; and a good, faithful friend and encourager, Scott Albright.
A service to celebrate Mitch's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Apple's Chapel Christian Church, and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Lowe Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Other times, the family will be at home.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice Care and Griswold Home Care for their compassionate care of Mitch, and the unlimited support and kindness of Mitch’s close friends Mark Talbert and Tim Elmore.
Memorial donations may be made to Apple's Chapel Christian Church, 7345 NC 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
