Mrs.Muriel Delois Allred Cook, age 87, of 723 Dick St., passed away on February 8, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. A native of Gibsonville, she was the daughter of the late Theodore C. Allred and the late Annie Ridenhour Allred and was married for 63 years to Edgar Samuel Cook, who died in 2005. She was retired from AT&T and was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. Muriel loved spending her time with her daughter, grandson, and son-in-law. She enjoyed crocheting, watching old movies and, with her wonderful sense of humor, making all her friends laugh. Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughter, Claudia Button Arnold and her husband, John, Sr., of Boone, NC; a grandson, John Lindsey Arnold, Jr. of Boone; a sister-in-law, Margaret Allred of Gibsonvillle; and a nephew, Kelly Allred of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Bertha Allred Ryan; and four brothers, Donald Allred, Paul Allred, William Allred and Claude Allred. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2011 at Gibsonville City Cemetery by Rev. Jonathan Marlowe. The family will receive friends following the service.
