Elon-Nancy Rice Barrett, 64, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Rockingham County and the wife of 46 years to Benny Clay Barrett who survives.
Nancy retired from Medtox Diagnostics. She was a member of Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church where she was a church printer for 46 years. Nancy was a part of the Young Women on Missions and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved being actively involved in her church and community. Nancy enjoyed taking cruises, playing Bingo and hosting Sunday family lunches. She was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother affectionately known by her grandkids as “Maw Maw”.
Survivors include her husband, Benny C. Barrett of the home; daughter, Laurie Barrett Foster of Elon; son, David Barrett and wife, Erica of Lillington, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Michelle (Tyler) Kluk, Nathan Shayne Foster, Julian Cole Foster, Colton Barrett and Caden Barrett; great grandchildren, Emaleigh, Sadie, Chloe, Alesia and Aisley; mother, Frances Lee Knight Rice of Burlington; sister, Karen Rice of Wilmington; brother, Clyde Rice, Jr. of Greensboro and numerous nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Lofton Rice, Sr. and brother, James “Jimmy” Rice and a sister, Aleshia Smith,
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care of Nancy.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 2:00PM at Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Paul Traywick. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45PM prior to the service at the church and other times at the daughter’s home.
