Nellie Williams Barbee

Burlington- Nellie Williams Barbee, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2022 at the Hospice home surrounded by her family. A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of 60 years to the late Ronald Wayne Barbee. She was the daughter of the late Porter Isaiah and Ida Bell Lynn Williams.

Nellie was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church for many years. She was a wonderful and very loving wife, mother, and “Maw Maw”.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Parvin and husband, Harry of Graham, and Melody Montgomery and husband Rex of Burlington; grandchildren, Joshua Barbee, David Barbee, Chris Johnson, Alex Montgomery, Ashley Cardwell and Laura Capps; 10 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and a very special, daughter-in-law, Tammy Ingle Barbee of Gibsonville; sister, Ruth “Ruthie” Rudd of Gibsonville; brother. Darrell Williams of Elon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Barbee; daughter, Robin Payne, parents; sisters, Gladys Busick, Doris Lasse; brothers, J. P. Williams, Melvin “Bud” Williams and Douglas Williams.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Authoracare Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Nellie.

The Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Hobbs and Rev. Chad Williams. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter, Sherry Parvin.
