Burlington-Nellie Sykes Westbrook 96, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Alamance Health Care surrounded by her family. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late William Ed Westbrook, Jr.

Nellie retired from Burlington Industries after 20 years of service. She was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church. Nellie enjoyed playing bingo at Alamance Health Care. She enjoyed board games, canasta and fishing before going to the nursing home. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah E. Westbrook of Burlington; sons, Gary Clinton Westbrook and wife, Rose and David Lynn Westbrook and wife, Vicki all of Burlington; grandchildren, Michael (Dawn)  Westbrook, Jason (Amy)  Westbrook, Brandi (Baron) Qualls, Nathan (Lindsey)  Westbrook and Noah Westbrook; great grandchildren, Amanda Westbrook, Jaden Qualls, Regan Qualls, Holden Westbrook, Carter Westbrook, Everly Westbrook and Ruby Westbrook; sister, Marion Westbrooks of Burlington; She was preceded in death by husband, great granddaughter, Danielle Westbrook; parents, Eleby Sykes and Willie Lois Lineberry Sykes; sister, Mabel Stamps and brothers, Byron Homer Sykes and Willie Thomas Sykes.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 2:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service on Friday and other times at the home.
