She was born on August 2, 1924 in Rockingham County to the late William McKinley Mitchell and Katherine Lelia Hall Mitchell. Norma enjoyed shopping, canning, planting a garden and cooking for others, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Norma is survived by her children, Karen Bullard, Susan Loy, and Lisa Wright and husband Dickie; grandchildren, Paul Loy and wife Bobbie, Amy Whitfield and husband Lonnie, and Jason Pope; seven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; a brother, William “Bill” McKinley Mitchell, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Kim Vincent. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Kemp “Kenny” Loy, Jr.; a grandson, Kirk Vincent; and her siblings, Jessie Mitchell, Alma Mitchell and Doris Smith.

The funeral service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Friendship Church by Rev. Mike Kelly and Rev. Al Horne with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 2:45pm Thursday at the church prior to the service.
