Patricia Ann Alderman Hicks, a beloved matriarch of her family and a cherished member of the community, passed away on November 28, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health. Born on August 5, 1938, in Sampson County, North Carolina, Patricia dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home.
Retiring from Sue Lynn Hosiery, Patricia balanced her working life with a commitment to her family, lovingly raising three children, C.W. Hicks and partner, Tammy, Teresa Morrell and husband, Les, and Don Hicks and wife, Stephanie. Patricia's legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, Ashton Dixon and husband, Casey, Tanner Hicks and wife, Kacie, Steven Stovall and wife, Mandy, Taylor Hicks, Blake Shotwell and husband, Chris, Macie Gambell and husband Keith, and Alex Morrell; ten great-grandchildren, Jack and Tucker Dixon, Maggie, Levi, and Holten Shotwell, Palmer and Porter Hicks, Stella and Rhyker Stovall and Baby Gambell; a sister, Edna May; brothers, Charles Alderman, and wife, Clara, and Frank Alderman, and wife, Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Calvin Johnson Hicks, who passed in 2018, as well as her parents, Walter Amos Alderman and Maggie Cox Alderman. She also mourned the loss of her five sisters, Reva Kennedy, Doris Starling, Geraldine Simmons, Ida Mae Dodd, and Nancy Garland.
In addition to her strong family ties, Patricia found joy in various hobbies and interests. She formerly attended Lakeview Community Church and was an avid homemaker. She took pleasure in gardening and enjoyed taking trips to the beach, where she created lasting memories with her family. Patricia’s warm spirit, unwavering love for her family, and her dedication to her community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at 2:00 PM, December 4, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reid Dickens. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive from 12:30 to 1:45 PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
