Paul Fredrick "Rick" Van Vorous, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, passed away at age 70 on June 12, 2026, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on March 24, 1956, in Lansing, MI, Rick was raised in Boulder, CO, before moving to Albuquerque, NM, and eventually settling in Burlington, NC, where he made a lasting impact on his community and loved ones.
Rick enjoyed a distinguished career spanning 25 years as a sales engineer with Pfeiffer Vacuum, from which he retired with great respect for his dedication and expertise. Beyond his professional achievements, Rick was passionate about traveling with his wife, Cheryl, cherishing time spent at their home in North Myrtle Beach, and lovingly caring for his three canine companions, "Reuben", "Charlie", and "Cooper".
His memory will be treasured by his loving family; his wife, Cheryl Horne Van Vorous; his children, Brynn Sanders and her husband, Dana, and Christopher Van Vorous and his wife, Cadie; stepchildren, Robert Terrell and his wife, Michele, and Amanda Davis and her husband, Eric; and his grandchildren, Claire Van Vorous, Jordan and Fallon Brue, Lincoln and Zoe Sanders, Meredith and Savannah Terrell, Karsyn and Kayla Doby, and Graycon and Maverick Davis; his sister, Lisa Van Vorous; and his brothers, David Van Vorous and his wife, Bridgette, Lon Van Vorous, and Peter Van Vorous and his partner, Andres. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ted and Mary Tuttle Van Vorous.
Rick Van Vorous’s life was marked by a profound commitment to his family, his career, and the simple joys he found in travel, nature, and companionship. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and quiet strength that will be cherished by all who knew him.
A private memorial gathering to honor Rick’s life will be held at a future date.
