Greensboro

Peggy Ann Greeson Childress, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on July 21, 1942, in Guilford County, North Carolina, Peggy's zest for life was evident from an early age, illuminating the hearts of those around her.

Throughout her long and fulfilling career, Peggy dedicated over 40 years of her life to Alamance Starter and Alternator, where her work ethic and dedication earned her the respect of her colleagues. In all facets of her life, she was known as a firecracker—never meeting a stranger and always leaving a lasting impression of warmth and kindness on everyone she encountered.

Peggy was married to the love of her life, Roy Childress, for 43 wonderful years until his passing. Their love story was one marked by companionship and joy, setting a beautiful example for their family. As a devoted mother, Peggy raised four remarkable children: daughter Wendy Flowers (J.R.), daughter Penny Ward (Bill), daughter JoAnn Agnew (Charlie), and son Michael Childress (Karla). Her legacy lives on through her adoring grandchildren, Casey May (Jenni), Justin Flowers (Sarah), Cole Flowers, Tori Hicks (Bob), Erica Burgess (Anthony), Grace Agnew, Taylor Agnew, Travis Agnew, Taryn Nguyen, Jacob Childress, Zachary Childress, Monica Childress, and Danielle Wilkinson (Kristen), as well as her 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.

Beyond her professional life, Peggy's vibrant personality shone through in her hobbies and interests. She played softball in the women's league in Burlington and had a passion for shag dancing, eagerly teaching others the art of this beloved dance. Her infectious spirit for life and love for her family created countless memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.

Peggy is now reunited with her beloved husband Roy, her father June Calvin Greeson, her mother Ruby Ann Greeson, and her brother Delbert "Dutch" Greeson, as she takes her place among the angels.

The visitation to honor Peggy's remarkable life will be held on September 27, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory in Burlington, NC, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Peggy will be lovingly laid to rest during the inurnment at Springwood Presbyterian Church, beginning at 2:00 PM.
