Rachel was born December 8, 1936, the daughter of Robert Smith, Sr. and Thelma Wall Smith. She grew up amid the close bonds of her siblings, and throughout her life, she remained very close with her family. She valued them above all else and was known for her loving nature and close relationships, particularly with her siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Over the course of twenty-five years, Rachel contributed her diligence and expertise as a payroll clerk at Sears & Roebuck. Her work ethic and reliability were hallmarks of her professional life, earning the trust and respect of her colleagues.
Rachel’s enthusiasm for life was evident in her many interests. In her younger years, she found delight in watersports, embracing the freedom of the water. Later, she discovered a passion for gardening, taking pride in growing beautiful flowers that brought color and joy to life. The golf course was another special place—a sanctuary she shared with her husband, Ted.

Rachel is survived by her sister, Patsy Carter and husband Fred; brothers, Bobby Smith, Jr., Russell Smith and wife Pat, and Chuck Smith and wife Beverly; as well as many special nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and kindness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted Duggins, and sister in law, Karen Smith.
