Rachel Huffines Page, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 8, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Guilford County and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Kernodle Huffines. Rachel was married for 68 years to her husband, Winford Page who survives.
Rachel graduated from Anderson High School in 1954 where she was a cheerleader and class valedictorian. She also graduated from Burlington Business College in 1955 with an Administrative Certification. Rachel began working for Willie Saul & Son Plumbing in 1982 and she wore many different hats before retiring in 2000 as the office manager. She loved to sew, embroider, raise a garden, grow flowers and play the piano, especially church hymns. Rachel also loved to help work on the farm, driving the tractor, running middles, running the cultipacker, even planting tobacco and hanging it in the barn when she could. She also enjoyed helping her daughter, Jan with her students whether it was helping grade homework or fixing goody bags on the holidays for the kids. Rachel enjoyed walking Jan and Dean’s dogs and looking after them whenever they were out for the day or out of town. She truly loved her granddaughters with her whole heart and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them, especially baking all kinds of goodies.
Rachel is survived by her beloved husband, Winford Page; daughter, Janet “Jan” Wagner and her husband, Dean; sons, Randall K. Page, Jeff Page and his wife, Robin; granddaughters, Jessica and Grace Page; sister, Martha Howard; brothers, Grover Huffines and his wife, Ellen, Zannie “Junior” Huffines and his wife, Debbie and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John William Huffines and a sister, Annie Lou Huffines Ross.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Bethel Christian Church by Elder Ray King with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caswell Parish/Two Hearts Thrift Store at 1038 Main St. Yanceyville, NC 27379.
