Ralph Nathaniel Roney, Jr., a cherished member of the Alamance County community, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 26, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on February 8, 1944, Ralph's journey began in Alamance County, where he grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and friends.

Ralph was a proud graduate of Williams High School, class of 1962, and furthered his education at The Technical Institute of Alamance, where he earned a degree in Computer Science. His career began at NCNB Bank in Greensboro, NC, where he was known not only for his professionalism but also for his kind-hearted nature. Ralph had a desire to help people, which endeared him to many throughout his life.

Honoring his commitment to his country, Ralph served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. After completing basic training, he was honored to be transferred to The Department of Defense in Washington, D.C., where he contributed his talents as a computer programmer, eventually working within the walls of the Pentagon.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ralph was a man of vibrant interests and adventurous spirit. He loved NASCAR and immersed himself in various sports, showing his enthusiasm for competition. Ralph’s fun-loving sense of humor made him a joy to be around; he never turned down an opportunity for a good laugh or a spirited adventure, including his pursuit of obtaining a pilot's license to fly.

Ralph is survived by his son, Bradley Nathaniel Roney Long, and wife Susan; his beloved grandchildren, Ava and Ella Long; and his sisters, Bennie Roney Hall and Dean, and Cheryl Roney Massey and Randy; brother-in-law, Roy Shepherd. He also leaves behind a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Nathaniel Roney Sr., and his mother, Thelma Terrell Roney; brother, Clyde Roney and wife Donna; sister Vickie Shepherd. His memory will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, as they cherish the kindness, humor, and adventurous spirit that he brought into their lives. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
