Rebecca White

Elon, NC Rebecca Becky Caviness White, 84, of 205 W. Summerbell Ave. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at her residence. She was born in Randolph County on January 21, 1922 to the late William Henry and Mamie Oliver Caviness and was the widow of the late Robert Lee Bob White for whom she was married 62 years until his death in 2005. She retired after 30 years of service with A.T.& T. and was a member of Elon First Baptist Church where she was a member of The Epsie Sommers Sunday school class. She was a graduate of E. M. Holt where she had perfect attendance. Mrs. White was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who loved and knew her. Survivors include one son, Richard Terry Dickie White of Burlington; one daughter-in-law, Carol White of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Mary C. Kimrey of Burlington; two brothers, William H. Caviness of Burlington and Tommy R. Caviness of Virginia; one half sister, Mrs. Alta York of Asheboro. She was preceded in death by a son David Lee White; a grandson, Billy Andrews; one sister, Donna Hinshaw; and a half sister, Alma Huffman. The Funeral will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Elon by Rev. Mark Moefield. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
