Reginald "Reggie" Allen Vick

March 25, 1940 — September 14, 2025

Gibsonville

Reginald “Reggie” Vick 3/25/40-9/14/25 and Patsy Ann Sharpe Vick 3/17/39-9/14/25

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Reggie Vick, age 85, and Patsy Vick, age 86, of Gibsonville (formerly of Haw River). Just as they did everything together throughout their 64 year marriage (April 20, 1961), sharing a life of love and commitment, they passed peacefully and together within two hours of each other at their home in Gibsonville on Sunday morning, September 14, 2025.

Patsy was born on March 17, 1939, to William “Bill” Sharpe and Alma Grinstead Sharpe. Reggie was born on March 25, 1940, to Allen “Al” Vick and Mary Hughes Vick. Predeceased by their parents, survivors include their daughters, Charlotte “Ann” Vick of Graham and Sarah Vick Friday (Blair) of Greensboro, grandsons William Joshua Friday (fiancée Emily Repko) and Zachary Allen Friday, both of Greensboro and multiple nieces and nephews. Patsy is also survived by siblings JC Sharpe (Cedar Grove) and Karen Sharpe Campbell (Hurdle Mills), beloved and special cousin Rosine Frederick (Bob) of Burlington, and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Patsy was predeceased by her siblings Kathleen S. Burgess, Edward Sharpe, James Sharpe, Lewis Sharpe and Raymond Sharpe. In addition to his parents, Reggie was predeceased by sisters Irene V. Partin (Emmett), Janette V. Davis (Clayton) and Frances V. Booker.

Both retired from AT& T (formerly Western Electric) after more than 30 years of service, each. Reggie after retirement obtained his real estate license, and also worked as a Loan Executive for the United Way of Greensboro for a number of years. Patsy and Reggie were true faithful servants, serving in many roles at Swepsonville Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Elon. Patsy served in the children’s department and as Sunday School Secretary. Reggie served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. They both loved Southern Gospel music and singing in the choir, as a duo and Reggie in a quartet. Reggie also served as the Men’s choir director and church treasurer.

Patsy’s greatest joy and love was her husband and family. She went above and beyond to make them feel special and loved, especially at Christmas. Her life changed completely when she became a grandmother “Maw Maw” to Josh and Zach. When asked what the best part of being a grandmother was, she answered “EVERYTHING.” She enjoyed cross stitching needlepoint, painting and absolutely loved jigsaw puzzles (the harder they were, the better she liked it). Reggie’s greatest joy was his wife (“I just like being in the same room with her”), his daughters, son-in-law, and grandsons. He was a lifelong UNC Tar Heel fan (especially the 1957 team), loved the New York Yankees and Mickey Mantle. Reggie also loved attending Elon football and basketball games. His hobbies included golf (he played in the Tuesday night league at A T& T) and watching Andy Griffith, often joking the show was the only decent thing on tv. Second only to their faith was their true love and devotion to each other, their family and friends. They attended everything their girls and grandsons participated in throughout their school years. Together they were unstoppable as Christians, parents, grandparents and close family and friends. As you can see, they were quite a pair. Ann and Sarah were so blessed to be a part of this love story.

The family would like to thank the hospice team, the church members who stepped in to help many, many times during these last three months, and family and friends for the many calls to offer help if needed.

The funeral service will be Saturday, September 20, 2025 at First Baptist Church-Elon, 621 East Haggard Avenue, Elon, NC (corner of Haggard and Lawrence), with visitation from 11-12:45 and service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Other times the family will receive friends at the family home in Gibsonville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AuthoraCare of Greensboro, 204 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405 or First Baptist Church-Elon, P.O. Box 778, Elon, NC 27244.
