Rev. Norman Blaine Harris

Rev. Norman B. Harris, 77, of Elon, passed away peacefully in the early morning of September 2, 2026. A devoted husband, father, Hoppy, and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was the salt of the Earth and the light of the world, guiding his family with a steady hand, a generous spirit, a loving heart and a smile that brightened every room.

Norman was a Baptist minister with over 37 years of service which included the following churches: Mt. Adar Baptist Church, Mebane NC; Swift Creek Baptist Church, Midlothian VA; First Baptist Church of Elon, Elon NC; Temple Baptist Church, Durham NC and Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church, Elon NC. He loved going on cruises, traveling to the beach and his favorite trips were to Europe. Norman enjoyed reading, loved learning something new and was definitely a history buff. He was a very active father and grandfather with a huge imagination and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Harris; his sons, Jason B. Harris (husband Tony) of Palm Springs and Adam B. Harris (wife Ashley); his grandchildren, Timothy B. Harris and Gracelyn F. Harris of Burlington; his sister, Anne Catlett (husband Bill); his brother-in-law, Mike Wells (wife Rita); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Anne Harris, and his parents-in-law, Charles and Thelma Wells.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Elon by Rev. Freddie Braswell. The family will receive friends following the service.
