Burlington, NC Rev. Clarence Junior Tidwell, age 76, of 2117 Carolina Mill Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at his home. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of Shirley Denton Tidwell who survives. Clarence retired after 49 years with Copeland Fabrics. He was a Charter Member and former volunteer fireman with the Faucette Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem and graduated with certificates for teaching and pastoral ministry. Clarence served as assistant pastor for several years at the Holy Word Baptist Church. He served as pastor for Imanuel Baptist Church on Chestnut Street for 17 years and served in rest home ministries for over 25 years. Clarence was on the Board of Directors for Glory Land Bible Camp in Snow Camp. He was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church and a member of the church choir. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Denton Tidwell of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne Jones and her husband, Mike; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome Tidwell and his wife, Gaynell, Gary Tidwell and his wife, Teresa, Dennis Tidwell, Sr. and his wife, Annette; step daughter and spouse, Rhonda Denton Somers and her husband, Brandal; nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Stansill, Betty Wimbush, Nancy Blanchard and Brenda Younger; brothers, Allen and John Tidwell. Clarence was preceded in death by his former wife, Margaret C. Tidwell; son, David L. Tidwell, Sr. and his parents, Nathan Leroy and Wenona Baker Tidwell; sister, Mildred Hoyle and a brother, Richard L. Tidwell, Sr. The funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Riverdale Baptist Church by Rev. Eugene Webb and assisted by Rev. Jim Hall and the burial will follow at McCray Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
