Richard Orsvath

Richard Carl Orsvath, age 73, passed away Tuesday April 28, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Bristol, CT, he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret Nemeth Orsvath. He was retired from General Electric, employed both in Plainville, CT and Mebane, NC and was a member of Elon Community United Church of Christ where he was a member of the choir and a former usher and trustee. Survivors include his wife, Gail Warren Orsvath of the home; daughter, Lisa Proffitt and husband Bill of Burlington; son, Jeff Corey and fiance Bobbi McCann of Burlington; grandchildren Abigail and Dayton Proffitt and sister, Barbara Jean Rudo and husband Marty of N. Ft. Myers, FL. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday May 1, 2009 at the Elon Community United Church of Christ by Dr. Daniel H. Kuhn, Jr., Rev. John Shields and Mr. Ken Crouse. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday May 4, 2009 at the Peacedale Cemetery in Bristol, CT. Mr. Orsvath will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Thursday.
