Richard Smith

Burlington-Richard "Pete" Ferrell Smith, age 87 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 3, 2015. He was a native of Pittsylvania County, Virginia and the husband of Betty Lloyd Smith who survives. Pete was the owner and operator of Smith Draperies for over 30 years. He was a member of Andrew's Memorial Baptist Church and a piano player for the Master's Quartet. Pete was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lloyd Smith of the home; daughter, Vicki S. Gilbert of Burlington; sons, Vance F. Smith and wife, Linda of Snow Camp and Richard F. Smith, Jr. of Liberty; step daughters, Sandy Sharpe and husband, David of Greensboro and Terry Mueller and husband, Mike of Wilmington; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Patterson and husband, Eddie of Burlington; brother, Raymond Smith and wife, Rachel of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Frank and Annie Royal Martin Smith; brothers, Neal Smith and Allen Smith and son-in-law, John Gilbert. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Stephenson and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:45-12:45 PM Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home.
