Rita Patterson Whitley

Rita Diane Patterson Whitley, 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  She was born on July 15, 1952 in Forsyth County, GA to the late Edwin Eugene Patterson and Theresa Latrelle Crowe Patterson, and was married to Bruce Stanley “Stan” Whitley of 48 years of the home.

Rita was the site manager with Azalea Circle in Gibsonville, where she enjoyed being around people and helping the residents.  Everyone knew that she was an animal lover and enjoyed watching her Koi fish in her fish pond.  She was also known for her southern cooking and her pound cakes.

Survivors other than her husband, Stan Whitley include her son whom she adored, Josh Whitley; a special niece, Becky Patterson Carrington and husband Brent; a sister, Beverly Staley and husband John; sisters-in-law, Judy Patterson, Debra Cole, Judy Allen and husband Barry; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Whitley; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard “Snap” Patterson; and her beloved canine companions, Mac and Bella.

The graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. Lawrence Clapp.  The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:30pm Wednesday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home.  The family request that everyone would wear masks to the visitation and service.
