Robert "Bob" Langley Almond

September 6, 1951 — September 7, 2025

Burlington

Robert "Bob" Langley Almond, Jr., born on September 6, 1951, in Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, with his devoted wife by his side. A cherished member of the community and beloved husband, Bob was known for his uplifting spirit and infectious smile, making friends wherever he went.

As the owner and operator of Lane Jewelers, Bob turned a simple business into a treasured gathering place in Burlington, where he not only showcased fine jewelry but also built lasting relationships with his customers. His engaging personality and "never met a stranger" approach helped him connect with many and forged countless friendships, reflecting his happy, outgoing nature.

Bob's dedication to service extended beyond his business. He proudly served as a US Air Force veteran, and his commitment to the community was evident in his various roles. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the President of the Burlington Rotary Club, a member of the Board of Directors for the Alamance Arts Council, and actively involved with both the American Legion and the Phoenix Club. His passion for youth sports and community development underscored his belief in giving back to those around him. An enthusiastic traveler, Bob found joy in exploring the mountains, relaxing while fishing, and immersing himself in the smooth sounds of jazz music.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Carolyn Ent, and their dear feline companion, Lucy. He leaves behind his loving sisters, Jean Mullan and Denise Almond-Wrenn and her husband Doug. His legacy will also live on through his nephews, David Mullan, Jeff Mullan, Ryan Wrenn and his wife Casey, and Travis Wrenn and his wife Jackie, who will carry forward his lessons of kindness and friendship. Bob’s extended family, including Angie Sullivan, Terri Kingsley, and Jerry and Valerie Roux, have also been touched by his warmth and generosity. He has now been reunited with his parents, Robert Langley Almond, Sr. and Dolores “Dee” Ciesnik Almond, who undoubtedly instilled in him the values that shaped the man he became.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00PM Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lisa Mullen. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence. Bob Almond will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit of kindness and joy lives on in all who had the privilege to know him.

Memorials may be made to the Burlington Rotary Club or to the Alamance Arts Council.
