Robert Carlman Bondurant, 79, a beloved figure and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, Penelope “Penny” Worrell Bondurant. He was born on July 22, 1946, in Surry County, to the late William “Bill” Robert Bondurant and Mildred Hiatt Bondurant.

His career spanned twenty years at Steve’s Garden Market, where he proudly retired as the General Manager. A true people person, Robert thrived in his roles, engaging with customers and friends alike, often leaving behind a trail of smiles and laughter. He was well-loved not just as a manager but as a friend to all who crossed his path.

Robert's passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Carolina Panthers. His interests also blossomed in the beauty of nature; he delighted in working in his yard, planting flowers, tending to shrubs, and meticulously manicuring his lawn year-round. Robert found immense pride in his home and took joy in nurturing the wildlife around his property, feeding them with the same love he offered to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 ½ years, Penelope "Penny", his son that he was proud of, Jeff Bondurant and his wife Jennifer; his beloved grandchildren, Weston Robert Bondurant, Blair, Madison, and Hannah.

Robert was a proud stepfather to Chad Jones and his wife Kristen, and Bryan Jones and his wife Chasity. He leaves behind step-grandchildren, Natalie, Daniel, Coby, and Kyleigh, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Robert’s spirit and love extend to his sisters, Gail Cox and Neina Withers, alongside several nieces and nephews who will forever fondly remember his kindness; and his cherished canine companions, Lucy and Abby, who were always by his side. Robert has now been reunited with his parents, his daughter, Shannon and his brother, Clark Bondurant.

As we remember Robert Carlman Bondurant, we celebrate a life filled with compassion, dedication, and a deep connection to family and friends. His warmth and laughter will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew him. There will be no services at this time.
