Robert Melton, Sr.

Burlington Robert Leonard "Bob" Melton, Sr., 80, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013. He was born in Alamance County to the late Robert Lacy Melton and the late Carrie Thomas Melton and was the husband of 55 years to Mary Madren Melton who survives. Bob was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired after 22 years of service with the US Navy and retired with Diebold, Inc. Bob was a member of Union Ridge Church, Fleet Reserve Association and The Retired and Enlisted Association. Survivors other than his wife, Mary Madren Melton, includes his daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia M. "Cindy" and Keith Brady, Denise M. and Victor Tripp; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Leonard, Jr. "Bobby" and JoAnne Melton and granddaughter, Casey Ann Melton all of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lewis Melton and Lloyd Melton and stepmother, Bessie Mae Zimmerman Melton. The Memorial Service will be held at 4:30pm Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James Rosser. The family will receive friends following the service. The Melton family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice and the Homeplace for their loving care that they showed to Bob.
