Obituary

Rodney Lee Burnett passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026 at the age of 79. He was born to Joseph M. and Gladys F. Burnett of North Vernon, Indiana.

Rodney graduated from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering and retired from Lucent Technologies after 25 years of service. He married his childhood sweetheart, Regina “Jeannie” More and blessed her with 56 years of marriage ordained by God.

He was a longstanding member of Lakeview Community Church and had a deep, abiding, loyal love for his God, family, church family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in laws, Dorothy and John More; sister-in-law, Tara Burnett; and brother-in-law, Ronnie More. Rodney is survived by his wife; daughter, Jennifer “JJ” Compton of SC; son, Colin “Coley” Burnett (Christie) of NC; grandchildren, Ayden Compton, Corey Carter, and Claire Carter; brother, Dr. Bill Burnett (Beth) of Indiana; brothers-in-law, Freddie More (Joanne) of Tennessee, Pat More (Rosemary) of Tennessee, and sister-in-law, Doris More of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Lakeview Community Church. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
