Roubert R.J. Manring, 82, of 313 Brightwood Church Rd. passed away Friday, October 20, 2006 at his home following a short illness. He was the husband of Aleen Heilig Manring for 57 years and the son of the late Arthur and Elsie Sams Manring. He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Moses Cone Hospital and a member of Brightwood Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon. R.J. proudly served in the US Army 106th Infantry Company H during WW II and he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2972 in Gibsonville. Survivors include his wife of the home, daughters, Nancy Huffman and her husband Don of Gibsonville, Ellen Carroll of Burlington, Cindy Manring of Winston Salem, Donna Manring of McLeansville, a son Rod Manring and his wife Alvalena of Gibsonville, sisters, Ruby LaBarge of Trinity, Marggie Herndon of Greensboro, Gracie Linens of Burlington, Jane Morgan of TN, Faye McCandless of FL, brothers, William A. Manring of High Point, Alton Joseph Manring and David Clark Manring both of TN, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and five step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Dean Manring, Johnny Manring, a sister Catherine Moody and two brothers Ed Manring and Otis Manring. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Brightwood Christian Church by Rev. Bruce Church and Rev. Don Lyerly. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-6 PM Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
