Roy Smith

Burlington, NC Roy Hassel Smith, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at White Oak Manor. He was a native of Caswell County and the son of the late Lester Hassel Smith and Mattie McKinney Smith. Roy retired from A. W. Trucking Company and was a veteran of the US Army serving in the European Theatre during WW II. He is survived by daughters, Deborah Coble of Burlington and Kimberly Christiana of Star, NC; sons, Ronnie Smith of Seagrove, NC; Greg Smith and Mark Smith both of Liberty; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Rudd, Brona Herndon, Elva Apple, Inez Conklin and Erma Matherly; brothers, Johnnie Smith of King, NC and Fred Smith of Elon. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl and Eugene Smith. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
