Roy Summers

Roy Garland Summers, age 87, of 6539 NC 61 North, passed away Wednesday March 1, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Helen Fryar Summers for 56 years and was the son of the late George Andrew and Lelia Brown Summers. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and a prominent dairy farmer in the Friedens community. Survivors include his wife, Helen Fryar Summers of the home; daughters, Rhonda Lynn Summers of Stoney Creek and Gayle Honeycutt and husband Wayne of Greensboro; son, Rodney Summers and wife Tammi of Elon; 2 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Iola Summers, Mary S. Shepherd and Eula S. Gerringer; brothers, Hubert A. Summers, George W. Summers, Rev. Daniel B. Summers, and Arlie W. Summers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday March 4, 2006 at Friedens Lutheran Church by Rev. Raymond Petrea, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Summers will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Friday. Memorials may be made to Friedens Lutheran Church; 6001 NC 61, North, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell; 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
