Sandra Faye Wrenn Bayliff died peacefully Saturday morning, September 6, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Rassie Herman and Mary Marley Wrenn and sister to the late Michael Wrenn. Sandra had many cats over the years and loved them like her own children.
Sandra’s family home was Staley, NC where she grew up and was a member of Staley Baptist Church. She often talked about her dad’s Service Station and the fond memories she had of seeing him there.
After graduating from Elon College, Sandra launched a successful career at Western High School, where she was a popular ninth grade English teacher in “A” Building. Over the years she positively influenced many students and made lifelong friends among her colleagues. One of those friends was Loyce Petersen, who quickly became her teaching mentor and life coach. Their friendship deepened significantly as time passed, and the Petersens came to embrace Sandra as a member of their family, a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, and she enjoyed spending many vacations, much family time, and all her holidays with them.
Sandra enjoyed many pursuits in life like reading, her Petersen family, and friends, but perhaps the thread that connected all those moments was her love of shopping! It made her extremely happy to give gifts to others and to share goodies with her doctor, dentist, car mechanics, and her neighbors. Sandra’s quick wit, laughter, giving spirit, and love will be missed by many.
An informal celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, September 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Alamance County Humane Society, P O Box 5117, Burlington, NC 27216.
