Sarah Wise

Sarah Ambrose Wise, 96, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Burlington Manor. She was born in Jacksonville, NC to the late Samuel Sheridan Ambrose and Beatrice Collins Ambrose and was married to the late H.J. Wise, Jr. Sarah attended both UNC Greensboro and UNC Chapel Hill, and graduated from UNC Greensboro at the age of 19. She was very proud of the UNC Tarheels! Sarah retired from Carolina Biological Supply and was active for many years in the Gibsonville United Methodist Church, serving as President of the Woman's Society and Secretary of the Western North Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church. She was also active in the local schools, serving as President of the Gibsonville PTA. She was a member of several local women's clubs and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. Survivors include her son, H. Joseph Wise III and wife, Rita Wise of Estes Park, CO; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and sister, Virginia Howell of Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Wilson Ambrose and Samuel Ambrose. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Monday, March 25, 2013 at Gibsonville United Methodist Church by Rev. Jonathan Marlowe. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:45pm at the church prior to the service. The graveside service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at St. Michael's United Church of Christ in Bridgewater, VA, by Rev. Dr. Hollis Dodge.
