Shannon Patricia Thomas, 41, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at her residence following a lifelong illness. She was born in Fairfield County, CT on August 24, 1984 to Peter Clinton Thomas and Elizabeth Ann Cooney “Beth” Thomas who survive.
As a private editor and a member of the Alamance Writers Club, she dedicated herself to the craft of language and a pursuit that echoed her lifelong passion for reading and writing. From childhood, she developed a love for cooking and following many culinary shows. She enjoyed skiing, swimming and traveling whenever she was able.
Known for her outgoing nature and heart of gold, she was the core of her family. She loved her friends and family dearly and took great joy in their company. She approached life with a positive attitude and even when faced with her health struggles, she continued to live life to the fullest. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, DeRoy Thomas; ex-husband, Brandus Christopher Foust; paternal grandmother, Doris Thomas; godmother and aunt, Noreen Patricia Cooney (Michael Smith) and aunts, Kathleen Mary Cooney, Patricia Thomas, Catherine Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, DeRoy C. Thomas and Emily Ann Thomas and maternal grandparents, Patricia Ann Cooney and Michael Joseph Cooney.
A funeral mass to celebrate Shannon’s life will be held at 9:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church by Fr. Albert Puliyadan OFM Conv. with the visitation to follow in the church narthex.
