Burlington, NC Shirley Penley Chambers, age 61, of Daniely Water Wheel Road went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Buncombe County and the daughter of the late Charles M. and Elizabeth Creech Penley, Sr. Shirley was the former owner and operator of Shirley's Day Care where she loved and touched the lives of numerous children for over 40 years. She was a member of the Burlington Shag Club and was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and a special friend to so many. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne Chambers, Jr. and his wife, Tracy and Michael Lynn Chambers all of Burlington; daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy C. Morton and her husband, Michael of Trinity, Anna Chambers of Senca, South Carolina, Joni R. McPhetridge and her husband, Todd of Zebulon; eight grandchildren; special friend, Allen Revis of Danville, Virginia; sister, Sandra Moore of Burlington; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel Penley and his wife, Bobbi of Greenville, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Charles and Tommy Penley; mother-in-law, Ruby Dell Crumpton Chambers. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darrell Massey and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Wayne Chambers, Jr., 2065 Altamahaw-Union Ridge Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
