Shirley Joyce Gregory Fain, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 22, 1940, in Caswell County, she dedicated her life to her family and work, particularly her retirement from General Electric, where she contributed her talents with steadfast commitment. Shirley loved to travel, she traveled to many places, including Bahamas, Canada, Hawaii and Las Vegas.
Shirley was known for her calm and quiet demeanor, a quality that made her a soothing presence to everyone fortunate enough to know her. One of her favorite past times was to go shopping at her favorite stores. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Natalie Fain, and her son, Gerald Fain. The love she held for her children was evident in the way she nurtured them throughout their lives. As a proud grandmother, she took immense joy in the lives of her grandchildren—Madison, Mackenzie, and Christopher—celebrating their milestones and sharing in their achievements. Her heart swelled with pride at the arrival of her great-grandson, Sawyer, who brought her immense happiness in her later years.
Shirley was also a beloved sister to Linda Allred, Faye Rudder, and Charles Gregory, each of whom held a special bond with her. Her family meant everything to her; she truly embodied the spirit of love and togetherness, and her legacy will remain alive in the hearts of those she left behind.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Ray Fain, and her parents, Gilbert Joyce Gregory and Ella Odell Rudd. She also mourned the loss of her sister, Patricia Page, who passed before her.
Shirley Joyce Gregory Fain's gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will forever cherish the memories they shared, holding her legacy close in their hearts.
