Shirley Martin

Burlington Mrs. Shirley Whisenant Martin passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born in Alamance County to the late Floyd Whisenant and the late Myrtle Lewis Whisenant and was the wife of 60 years to Harold Grey Martin who survives. Shirley was a former LPN nurse with Dr. Clinton Crissmon and retired as an LPN with Alamance Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Moose Lodge and a former member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband Harold G. Martin of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Gordon Lee and Phyllis Martin of Mebane; daughter, Lori Martin Hardy of Elon; grandson, Jonathan Lee Martin; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Mary Whisenant of Kernersville. Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Geraldine Thompson, Edith Love, Lorene Horner, Gracie Whisenant and brother, Melvin Whisenant. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Wade Cox with entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.
