Shirley Smith Tippett

Shirley Smith Tippett, a woman of deep faith and even deeper love, went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the morning on February 16th. Born in Garland NC, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Dorothy Smith.

The Lord blessed Shirley with a love story that spanned a lifetime. For 65 years, she and her beloved husband, Charles Tippett Jr., walked hand and hand through life’s sunshine and storms. Their marriage stood as a testament to what “for better or worse” truly means, anchored by their faith and devotion.

Nothing brought a brighter smile to Shirely’s face than her sons and grandchildren. She leaves behind her legacy of love in her sons, Charles Tippett III (Amy) and Jeffrey Tippett (Sherri); and her grandchildren, Charles Nicholas Tippett (Sarah), Lindsey Westbrook (Nathan) and Hannah Collins (Brian); as well as 8 great grandchildren who were her joy of her later years. She is survived by her dear siblings, Leeroy Smith and Brenda Sessoms.

We take comfort in knowing there was a grand reunion in Heaven as she was greeted by her parents and siblings, Malcom, Donald, Alice, Wiliam and Bobby.

Shirley’s funeral service will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 am.
