Mrs. Stella Nance Hardy, 89, of 3504 Phillips Chapel Rd., died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. Born in Surry County on May 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late James V. Nance and the late Sarah Jane Hayes Nance and was married to the late Labin Palus Hardy for over 57 years. She retired from Culp Finishing, where she worked as a winder. She loved flowers, gardening and sewing, especially patch work quilts. Mrs. Hardy is survived by two daughters, Linda Howard and her husband, Madison, of Snow Camp and Christine Perkins and her husband, Harold, Sr., of Mebane; three sons, Michael L. Hardy of Wendell, David L. Hardy of Haw River and James W. "J.W." Hardy and his wife, Kami, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Harold W. Perkins, Jr., Christal M. Perkins, Travis Hardy, Nicole Hardy, Amy Lilly and Wesley Hardy; two great grandchildren, Nathan Lilly and Wyatt Perkins; a sister, Hattie Marion of Elkin, NC; and a brother, McKinley Nance of State Road, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Mary Sue Hardy; and five brothers, Marvin, Raymond, Paul, Vernel and Frank Nance. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Chuck Perkins, Dr. Don Carter and Rev. Mark Mitchell. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Friday, March 28, 2008 and other times at the home.
