Steve Gordon Carver, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Mebane Ridge, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 22, 1946 in Person County to the late Jasper Winford Carver and Estelle Hope Ladd Carver and was the husband to the late Jerrie Farrell Carver who died in March 2025.
Steve was a proud graduate of Southern Alamance High School, Class of 1964. He honorably served his country as a US Army veteran. Following his military service, Steve dedicated over forty years to Burlington Industries, where his work ethic and loyalty were classic. Even after retirement, he continued to contribute by working with LabCorp as a Medical Courier until the age of 74, demonstrating his active spirit.
Beyond his family and career, Steve’s life was enriched by the joy of fellowship and teaching. He was a former Sunday School teacher and an active member of the Christian Bible Fellowship, where his faith and kindness left a lasting impression. Known for his warmth and gentle spirit, Steve embraced his role in the community and church with passion and humbleness.
He was also an avid Tarheel fan, finding great pleasure in cheering on his team. Alongside Jerrie, he loved traveling with Holiday Tours, savoring new experiences and the joy of discovery. Dining out at restaurants and playing cards were among the simple yet cherished hobbies that brought him happiness and connection with loved ones.
Family and faith were the cornerstones of Steve’s life. He was a beloved husband to Jerrie Sue Farrell Carver, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Their bond was one of deep love and partnership, inspiring all who knew them. Steve is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Bradford and her husband Wesley, and Juanita Clark and her husband Ray; his brother, Garry Carver and his wife Betty; as well as several nieces and nephews who carry forward the legacy of love and kindness he embodied throughout his life. Steve is now reunited with Jerrie, his parents, his infant son, Steven Farrell Carver, and a brother, Glenn Douglas “Doug” Carver.
