Surrounded by family on Saturday May 30, 2026 Sylvia Ann Hall gained her heavenly wings and took flight to be with Jesus. Sylvia was a native of Alamance County. She was born in the Union Ridge community.
Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Roy Benjamin Hall and Ella Elizabeth Perry Hall, sister Joyce Hall Oakley, brother-in-law Reid N. Oakley, brother-in-law Darrell H. Davis Sr., and sister-in-law Audrey S. Hall. She is survived by brothers U. Dean Hall and wife Bennie of Holden Beach, N.C., J. Benjamin (Bennie) Hall of Burlington, N.C, sisters Glenda Hall Davis of Burlington, N.C., Bonnie Hall Pritchett and husband Edgar H. Pritchett of Elon, N.C. and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews who were all like grandchildren to her.
Sylvia enjoyed doing embroidery work and was very handy with a needle and thread. She made many treasures with her hands and shared them with family and friends at special times in their lives like weddings and graduations. She loved NASCAR and especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. always ready to cheer him and his iconic number 3 Chevrolet on to victory. Upon Dale’s passing the racing never had the same appeal and she left the sport.
An avid UNC Tarheel fan, she was all things UNC. Especially Tarheel basketball and Dean Smith. One of her “all-time great days” was a trip to the Dean Smith Center. Sylvia never met a stranger and was always the center of attention no matter where she was. The life of the party, always laughing her special laugh. She brought joy to so many lives.
Full of compliments, Sylvia made everyone she met feel special in every way. “Hello handsome or you’re so beautiful” were her signature greetings. Sylvia was well known for her camera and no fear of any subject matter. Candid photos were her specialty. Family gatherings, trips to the beach or almost anywhere and everywhere that camera was always present. Each occasion was well documented, and you had better be on high alert or you were certain to be captured on film wearing a look of surprise.
Sylvia lived a life of great joy and happiness. Her loves were nice dresses and always lots of jewelry. Family was most important and she kept up with every member and all of their accomplishments. She beamed with pride at the mention of any of the nieces or nephews. To know her was a joy.
A member of Union Ridge Church, she loved everyone there and they all loved her back. She also attended Berea Christian Church. She will be missed by the many people whose lives were touched by her special charm and wit.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Union Ridge Church, burial will follow at the church’s cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after burial.
