Talmage "Tal" Wayne Johnson

Mebane-Talmage “Tal” Wayne Johnson, 82, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Duke University Medical Center.  He was born in Shelby, Ohio to the late Hollie and Sabra Allie Mabry Johnson. He was the husband of 26 years to Jeanne Shaver Johnson who survives.

Tal retired from A O Smith and he worked as an Engineer with McDonald Douglas and Chrysler on NASA projects relating to satellites and rockets. Tal was a proud member of Alamance Region AACA Car Club where he served as past President and Vice President. He was a Mason and he enjoyed Nascar, Hallmark movies and Country and Western Music. Tal most of all loved spending time with family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne S, Johnson of the home; son, Mark Hyers of Indiana and his grandchildren, Audrey (Jack) Hunter, Dylan Hyers, Page Catharine Hyers and Andrew John Hyers; daughter-in-law, Ashley Stone Hyers; nephews, Johnny Goldy, Teddy Goldy and Mikie Goldy.  Tal was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Stephen Dale Hyers.

A visitation will be held from 3-5pm Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. A graveside service will be held in Salt Lick, Kentucky at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 5th at Jones Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the graveside service at Powell Funeral Home in Salt Lick from 12-1:45PM.
