Tanya Briggs Scott, age 27, of Burlington formerly of Burnsville, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, March 1st, 2020 at Alamance Regional Hospital. She was a daughter of Wallace Briggs and Sandy Miller Whitson. She was also preceded in death by her grandfather, Frank Briggs and "Maw", Carol Prather. Tanya enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing but mostly spending time with her husband, daughter and family.
Surviving in addition to her father, Wallace Briggs and mother, Sandy Miller Whitson and husband, Mack, is her loving husband, Brandon Scott; daughter whom she adored; Laylah Scott of the home; sister, Emily Briggs of Burnsville; grandparents: Hiram and Mary Miller of Burnsville, Ann Briggs also of Burnsville and "Paw", Gary Prather of Burlington; mother-in-law, Kim Scott; father-in-law, Keith Scott and wife, Donna, all of Burlington and a very special aunt, Irene Hayes. Several other aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Jim Bo Seaton and Rev. Davy Shelton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on March 14th at Staley Memorial Baptist Church located at 1446 North Graham Hopedale Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
