“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”— Matthew 25:21 (KJV)

With heavy hearts yet grateful spirits, we celebrate the life and heavenly homegoing of Teresa Horner King, age 65, of Burlington, NC, who peacefully entered the arms of her Savior. Though her absence leaves a deep ache in our hearts, we rejoice knowing she has received her crown of glory and now walks in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Teresa was a woman of unwavering faith. Her trust in God was the cornerstone of her life and the guiding light that saw her family through countless storms. Her well-worn Bible and fervent prayers were evidence of a heart anchored in God’s promises. Teresa didn’t merely talk about Jesus—she walked with Him every single day. Her legacy lives on not only in the love she poured out but in the faith she carried and the countless lives she touched.

A passionate gardener, Teresa found joy in tending her flower beds, coaxing blooms of every color to life. Everyone knew if they had a withered hopeless plant all they had to do was get Teresa to touch it and they knew it would bloom and flourish. She believed every petal reflected God’s creativity, and she delighted in sharing her plants growth with neighbors, friends and family. There was also the quirk of what family knew as her “OCD”, if a single speck of dirt—or heaven forbid, even the tiniest piece of fuzz—was in her spotless home, she was bent over, picking it up faster than you could say “Amen!”—proof that even this was an act of love and order by her.

Teresa leaves behind a beautiful and growing family: two loving daughters, Jennifer Long (Brandon) and Brandy Carroll (Norman); two stepchildren, Joy Millner (Anthoney) and Brent King; twelve adoring grandchildren; and four precious great-grandchildren—all of whom she loved beyond measure. She is also survived by her father, Joe Horner, and stepmother, Anne Horner; her devoted sister, Joyce Sullivan (Tim), and Joyce’s children, Joseph Persgard (Genevieve) and Amanda Brooks, who shared an especially close bond with their ‘Aunt T’ Loving memories also endure through her brother, Levi Combs, and a host of great-nieces and nephews who will carry her spirit in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Combs; her brother, Kenneth Horner; and one great-grandchild Elijah.

A service to celebrate Teresa’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Joshua Patterson. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and other times at her home.

Teresa’s compassion, gentle wisdom, and unwavering love for the Lord will be remembered by all who knew her. A woman of grace and quiet strength in a loud world, she was a prayer warrior who never ceased believing for those she loved.

Though her earthly body now rests, her spirit lives on in every praise song sung, every prayer whispered, and every act of kindness inspired by her life. She fought the good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith. Heaven is richer, for a true daughter of the King has come home.
