Thomas Mann, Sr.

Burlington Thomas Elwood "Tommy" Mann, Sr, 81 went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born October 25, 1931 to the late Ernest Samuel and Leola Hancock Mann and was the husband of 52 years to the late Georgia Irene Hilton Mann. Tommy attended Staley Memorial Baptist Church and was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was employed with Western Electric for 37 years and was an avid traveling photographer. Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Phillips and husband, Gordon of Burlington; son, Tom Mann, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Elon; granddaughters, Jennifer Mann Davis and husband Jeff and Jessica Phillips Massey and husband Stephen. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and one sister. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Friday, December 7, 2012 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Benny Smith and Rev. George M. "Jack" Phillips with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
