Thurman Mitchell

Thurman Joseph Mitchell, age 80, formerly of Farmview Dr., died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center. He was born December 12, 1932 in Stonington, CT to the late Joseph Henry and Lillian Rust Mitchell and he was married to the late France Reedy Mitchell for fifty-seven years. Mr. Mitchell is survived by; three daughters, Mary C. Farrell and her husband, Barry, Linda M. Carden and her husband, Steve, and Lisa A. Walker and her husband, Darrell, all of Burlington; four sons, William Mitchell and his wife Nancy of Wilmington, Joseph Mitchell and his wife, Tommie, of Graham, NC, Steven Mitchell and his wife, Marie, of Jewitt City, CT and James Mitchell and his wife, Wendy, of Haw River; sixteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steve Austin. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at 2179 Carolina Rd., Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
