Toni Gaines Brown, 67, a beacon of love and devotion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her cherished family. She was born on September 23, 1957, in Guilford County, to the late Malphus Thomas Gaines and Hazel Bennett Gaines; and was the wife of 45 years to William "Bill" Clifton Brown, Jr., which she shared a loving partnership with and created a beautiful life filled with laughter and support.
As the owner and operator of TB Landscapes, Toni cultivated not just gardens but also friendships that blossomed into lasting connections. As a proud mother, Toni was the biggest cheerleader for her beloved children, Erin and Lee. She attended every sporting event, always encouraging them with love and pride. Toni volunteered many years with the Alamance Christian School and with the Boosters Club, where her influence enriched the lives of many, and even took on the role of coaching Erin's volleyball team.
A long-time member of Beacon Baptist Church for 38 years, Toni's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her dedication to the church was not only seen through her attendance but also in her service as a former nursery school teacher. She was a devoted caregiver to her parents, as well as to her aunts, uncles, and close family friends, showcasing her remarkable ability to embody compassion and support.
Toni's greatest joy blossomed in her role as a grandmother. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. Toni led an active and vibrant life. She enjoyed traveling to the beach, fishing, an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan and playing softball with her church league, which their team had several tournament victories.
Survivors other than her husband, William "Bill" Brown, Jr., who has been her rock, include her loving children, a daughter, Erin Brown Wilburn and her husband Chris; her son, Lee Brown and his wife Jenna; and grandchildren that she adored, Canyon Rumley, Keegan Brown, Conlan Brown, Wyatt Wilburn, Ella Wilburn and Brylee Brown; a sister, Terri Cox; a brother, Timothy Gaines; a niece, Heather Davsko; and nephews, Brian Cox and Jason Cox, along with several great nieces and nephews who will remember her kindness and laughter.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Toni will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Beacon Baptist Church by Pastor Bob LaTour and Pastor Mike Karns. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM Saturday prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
