Tony Ray Branson, 68 of Stoney Creek passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Alamance County and was the son of the late Herman Ray Branson and Nettie Shoffner Branson, who survives. In his early career, Tony owned and managed textile businesses with his family in Burlington. For the last 25 years, he has worked in the automotive industry as part owner of Tarheel Nissan and as a high performance engine builder. After retirement, Tony taught auto mechanics at Randolph Community College until his death. He is survived by his wife of the home, Mary Wilson Branson; mother, Nettie Shoffner Branson of Graham; children, Tamara Branson Wright and her husband Larry of Sag Harbor, NY and Timothy Branson and his wife Varsala of Fairfax, VA; sister, Linda Clapp and her husband Freddie of Graham; brother, Jesse Branson and his wife Barbara of Graham; sister-in-law, Nancy Martin and her husband Jerry of Mooresville; grandchildren, Carrie Kimball, Branson Wright, Addison Wright, Christina Branson and Kevin Branson and great grandchildren, Gaelin and Alistair Kimball. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Janey. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
