Travis Lathaniel Creel, 83, of The Village of Brookwood went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 29, 2008, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health and a one week critical illness. He was born in Horton, Alabama, son of the late Thomas and Lovonia Monday Creel and was married to the late Sylvia Hudson Creel. He retired as Vice President of the Life Insurance Company of Virginia and was a member of Powerline Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy C. and Dr. Tim Taylor of Burlington, Lisa C. and Dr. George R. Aldhizer, III of Pfafftown; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Rickey and Donna Creel of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Leslie Shands and her husband Bobby, Travis D. Creel, Matt Taylor, Mary Catherine Creel, George R. Aldhizer, IV and Tom Aldhizer; sisters and brother-in-law, Nan C. and Fred Nichols of Jasper, AL and Irene C. Ford of Jasper, AL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Thomas Shook. The family will receive friends from 10 10:45 AM prior to the service and other times at the home of his daughter, Kathy C. Taylor, 3253 Alex Faye Drive, Burlington. The family will also receive friends at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper, AL from 1-2 PM Saturday with the graveside to follow in Walker Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bryan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Duke University Medical Center, 2200 W. Main Street, Suite A200, Box 3503 DUMC, Durham, NC 27705. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the staff and caregivers at The Village of Brookwood for the special love and care that was shown to Mr. Creel.
