Venita Edwards

Mrs. Venita C. Edwards, 85, of 4056 Jimmy Boles Rd., died early Thursday morning, September 29, 2005, of aspirate pneumonia at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She had a history of strokes. Venita had a great love of people, dogs, music, and gardening. She was born in Muldrow, Oklahoma in 1920 to the late E.E. and Minnie Lee Creekmore and was pre-deceased by her husband, George Edwards, in 1996. They were both active longtime members of Elon Community United Church of Christ. She is survived by her only child, Sharon Edwards; a sister, Dorthene Ward; nieces, Susan Cochrane and Peggy Allan Johnson; nephew, Mike Sandy Dugan; grandniece, Heather Brandon Meadows; along with many other great grandnieces and nephews. Venita Edwards worked at the Sears Department Store in Burlington Square Mall for 27 years and loved every minute of it. Anyone who met her, loved her and she has friends all over the United States. She will be sorely missed, especially by her daughter, who together with home care help, took care of her for the last five years preceding her death. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, October 3 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Elon Community United Church of Christ. A reception will follow the funeral service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place in Bixby Cemetery, Bixby, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 812 N.
