Vidie Barbee Tingen, 93, passed away on September 10, 2025, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Alamance County, was the cherished daughter of William "Bud" Barbee and Ella Tickle Barbee and was married to James Daniel Tingen, who passed in 2013.
A dedicated member of the textile industry, Vidie's career was marked by her unwavering commitment and diligence, a testament to her strong work ethic. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she found her true passion in serving her community. As a beloved member of Powerline Church, Vidie actively participated in the women's ministry and was deeply involved in the Dare to Share Team, where her compassion and zest for life inspired those around her.
Cooking was one of Vidie's greatest joys. Her kitchen was always filled with the delicious aromas of meals prepared with love, not only for her family but also for the church community she cherished. She took immense pleasure in bringing her loved ones together over shared meals, reminding them of the warmth of family bonds and the joy of togetherness.
Vidie's legacy is woven through the lives of her family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Janice Tingen Black, and her three wonderful grandchildren: Jim Allen Tingen, Jeremy Black and wife April, and Jessica Black (Nathan). Each of them carries a piece of her heart, along with the great joys of her life—her six great-grandchildren: Allison Tingen, A.J. Tingen, Cooper Black, Beau Black, Jermiah Perry, and Jody Perry. To Vidie, her great-grandchildren were the bright lights of her life, and the laughter and love they brought filled her days with happiness.
Vidie was preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Tingen, their son, Jimmie Tingen, and her parents, William "Bud" Barbee and Ella Tickle Barbee, son-in-law, Jerry Black, and four sisters and five brothers.
