Wade Russell Cox, 80, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Peak Resources in Graham after several months of failing health. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Elmer Ray and Beulah Ann Williamson Cox. He was the husband of 58 years to the late Joyce Elaine Tuck Cox who died in 2023.
Wade retired after 35 years as a truck driver for Overnite Trucking. He was a graduate of Eastern High School and a veteran of the US Air Force. He was also a member of Pilgrim Chapel Baptist Church. Wade enjoyed spending time outdoors swinging on his porch swing, gardening, farming and raising livestock. Wade could always be found at his barn working on a project. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
Wade is survived by his daughter, Kandy Fuller of Burlington; three grandchildren, Brittany (Drew) Thomas of Burlington, Eric Williams of Florida and April (Jesse) Cates of Burlington; five great grandchildren, Audrey Patrick, Braylynn Patrick, Caiden Jones, Clayton Thomas and Emily Thomas; sisters, Sarah (Rick) Hunter and Shirley Leath both of Burlington; brothers, Charles (Deborah) Cox of Elon, Jerry (Anita) Cox of Jonesville, NC, Billy (Sissy) Cox of Burlington and Kenneth (Lynette) Cox of Reidsville and his son-in-law, Lawrence Dixon, Jr. of Mebane and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Tammy Dixon; parents; brothers, James, Lee, Ray, Glenn and Roger Cox.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2025 at McCray Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Mike Jones and Rev. Chip Sellew.
