Wallace Alton Rumley

Wallace Alton Rumley, 87, met his Maker on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his home.  He was born July 29, 1934 to the late Russell Robert Rumley and Effie Jane Gerringer Rumley of Guilford County.   Alton was married to Grace Y. Rumley for 68 years.

Alton was previously employed with Copeland Fabrics and Alamance Machine Products.  He was a passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves and loved their dog Chloe.  He enjoyed visiting the Smiths Greenhouses where he found his second family.  For many years he met daily with close friends at Eddie’s Texaco for their “town meetings”.  He also loved taking Grace to eat lunch at the Senior Center in Gibsonville which fostered some really close friendships.  Recently he spent a lot time on his front porch talking with neighbors (especially Darrian), the postwoman and Mike the local UPS driver.  He really didn’t meet a stranger.

Alton is survived by his children R. Dale Rumley (Deb), Phyllis R. Estes (Mike), Maria R. Ingle (Jeff) and Reba R. Worley (Todd); grandchildren, Chris Estes, Nick Estes, Alicia R. Massey, Kayla Worley and Olivia Worley; great grandchildren, Lily Hamlett, Nolan Causey and Gabriel Massey. The funeral service will be held on 2:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jacob Danieley and Pastor Darrell Massey with burial to follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
