Wayne Davis

Burlington Wayne Gerald "Pops" Davis, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Alamance County to the late Lacy Green Davis and the late Mildred Graham Davis. Wayne retired from General Electric and was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the 2nd Evangelical Methodist Church, an avid Carolina Fan and was a proud supporter of the Republican Party. Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Strader and husband, James of Graham; sons, Jerry Davis and wife, Cindy and Craig Davis and fiance, Michele Mabee all of Burlington; grandchildren, Chelsea Davis, Dustin Davis and Addison Strader; sisters, Rita Hall of Elkin, Joan Gilliam of Haw River, Madge Davis of Burlington, Joyce Mrizech of Illinois and Irma Gilley of Burlington; brothers, Harold Davis, Ronald Davis, Jeff Davis and Steve Davis all of Burlington; and mother of his children, Lydia Cates Davis of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Chris Davis and a brother, Millard Davis. The graveside service will be held 1:00pm Monday, July 15, 2013 at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. Garry Gates. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6pm Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the daughters' home.
